Restore some peace and unity in our treasured land.

Feb 2022

An attitude of gratitude is easier said than done

when all you know is changing in more ways than a tonne

Everywhere you look, chaos and disparity reign

people fighting for freedom, expressing all their pain.

Waking up with a sense of dread, of what the day will hold

is easy to fall into when you are constantly being told,

"A virus will kill us all, unless you get shots times three"

"Don't mix with those who don't comply, or even disagree"

Often underestimated though, throughout history

is the power of human connection with a shared story

When our identity has been rooted in the land of the free

you cannot divide us all, with fear and manipulation you see.

History has shown us to be a nation of overcomers

Kiwi ingenuity is what sets us apart from the others

A tiny passionate country with mighty powerful voices

Watch us rise up when you take away our choices.

Freedom, in our DNA since the beginning of time

Hard fought for, and treasured, not being sold for a dime

Our future generations depend on each of us

To stand up and fight, for what is right and just.

Love can cut through hatred like a sharpened knife

when it boils down to it, we are humans, navigating life

None of us have the 'right' answers to very much of this

yet opposing opinions, theories, and views still exist.

Each of us, including our leaders have choices

to take a step back from the anger and truly hear the voices

Taking time to listen and really understand

may restore some peace and unity in our treasured land.

Arohanui, kia kaha Aotearoa,
